10 July 2026

The Turkish Young Academy was represented by its President, Associate Professor Dr Mürsel Doğrul, at the 2026 Global Young Academy (GYA) Annual General Meeting and International Conference of Young Scientists. This event was held at Constructor University in Bremen, Germany, from 28 June to 3 July 2026. The event, organised under the theme 'Machine Intelligence for Society and All Sciences', brought together GYA members, national young academies, researchers and international stakeholders to discuss the impact of artificial intelligence on science, society and international cooperation.

As part of the meeting, Dr. Doğrul participated in sessions with representatives of National Young Academies and GYA members, holding discussions on strengthening cooperation between the Turkish Young Academy and the Global Young Academy. The meetings also provided an opportunity to exchange views on science diplomacy, support for early-career researchers, and the development of international scientific collaborations.

During the conference, discussions also focused on the World Science Forum 2027, which will be held in Istanbul. Meetings with GYA members and international stakeholders explored potential areas of collaboration related to the forum, which attracted considerable interest among participants.

As part of the event, President Doğrul presented TÜBA's book, Science Diplomacy for Global Challenges, to Prof. Sir Konstantin Novoselov, Rector of Constructor University and recipient of the 2010 Nobel Prize in Physics, as well as to Prof. Siok Yee Chan, Co-Chair of the Global Young Academy. In addition, the TÜBA Newsletter was presented to Hussain Mustatab Wahedi, Founding Secretary General of the Pakistan Young Academy and a member of the Global Young Academy.

The 2026 GYA Annual General Meeting and International Conference once again highlighted the importance of international cooperation among young scientists and science academies. During the General Assembly, it was decided that the 2027 GYA Annual General Meeting will be hosted in Indonesia. The Turkish Young Academy remains committed to strengthening its collaboration with the Global Young Academy and to contributing actively to international scientific dialogue, science diplomacy, and initiatives supporting early-career researchers.
