Turkish Young Academy Executive Board held its April meeting on 29 April 2026 at the TÜBA Maçka Library, located on the Maçka Campus of Istanbul Technical University.

Following the board meeting, members of the Turkish Young Academy Executive Board participated in the World Science Forum (WSF) Steering Committee Meeting held on 30 April at Istanbul University's Baltalimanı Facilities. The meeting, organized under the coordination of the Turkish Academy of Sciences (TÜBA) as part of the preparations for the 2027 World Science Forum to be hosted by Türkiye, focused on key decisions regarding the Forum’s theme, scientific content, and organizational structure.

Co-chaired by TÜBA President Prof. Muzaffer Şeker and President of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences Prof. Tamás Freund, the Steering Committee reached a consensus on organizing the 2027 World Science Forum under the theme “Science in Times of Global Crises: Transcending Boundaries in a Fragmented World.” The Forum is expected to address topics centered on science diplomacy, sustainability, ethics and responsibility, and global resilience.

As members of the Turkish Young Academy Executive Board, we were pleased to take part in this important preparatory process, which will further strengthen Türkiye’s visibility in international science diplomacy. The meetings provided a valuable opportunity to incorporate the perspectives of early-career researchers into the preparations for the World Science Forum, a unique platform that brings together scientists, academy representatives, policymakers, and stakeholders from around the world.

As part of the program, Prof. Tamás Freund, President of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, presented the “250th Anniversary Medal of Science” to the Turkish Young Academy in commemoration of the 250th anniversary of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences.
